Avenues to Independence

Avenues to Independence

The new Wintrust mural is a vibrant celebration of Avenues to Independence, an organization dedicated to supporting and encouraging people with disabilities to lead the lives they choose responsibly, with independence and dignity. This mural beautifully captures this mission, highlighting the vital role Avenues’ clients play within their community. They work, live, and socialize in the community, becoming woven into its very fabric. Avenues is truly a place where joy happens for clients, families, staff, supporters, and friends. With its vibrant colors and uplifting imagery, the mural is a beacon of hope and joy for all who see it. We invite you to share in this celebration and feel the same sense of community and joy that Avenues brings to so many lives.

The Wintrust Connection: A Partnership Rooted in Community

Our relationship with Avenues to Independence has deep roots, thanks to Paul Carlisle, our Chief Operating Officer and Market Head of Wintrust Commercial Banking. Since joining the Avenues family in 2003, Paul has been instrumental in strengthening this partnership. He began his journey on the Gorman Golf Classic committee and soon became a charter member of the Chicago Partnership Board. Today, Paul chairs the Avenues Foundation Board and continues to serve on the Chicago Partnership Board. His dedication was recognized with the William and Jean Knaack Spirit of Avenues Award in 2019.

Paul’s vision and commitment led to Avenues' nomination for the Wintrust mural many years ago, and we are thrilled to see this project come to life. The mural celebrates the organization’s mission and our enduring partnership.
